Tracy Dartt Recovery Update! 8/28 - August 28, 2014

This week has been a challenging one for Tracy. Doctors had hoped to transfer him to a physical therapy rehab facility on Monday the 25th, but the day before began a multi-day bout of pretty extreme nausea for him. Treatment to relieve the nausea became necessary early in the week, with doctors placing a tube through Tracy's nose to pump out an excess of bile.

In the meantime, doctors have been happy with Tracy's overall progress… his creatinine levels had elevated, but have now receded back to pre-surgery levels, which is good. Tracy's been comfortable enough to allow for downgrading of his pain meds - now just being treated exclusively with Tylenol. His blood pressure has remained normalized through the week and his labs are good.

Yesterday was Tracy's first day to get out and walk in the hall, and this morning he started eating well once again. Sharon and Tracy are both encouraged at all the progress and are looking forward to home… BUT before that happens, they are still looking at 10-14 days of Tracy remaining in a physical therapy rehab facility, starting today. Right now they are waiting for word of when to expect an ambulance ride over to the facility - expecting for it to be sometime this evening.

     We appreciate your continued prayers!

Tracy Dartt Recovery Update! 8/23 - August 23, 2014

Tracy Dartt continues his recovery at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville with wife, Sharon, staying by his side day and night. Over the last couple of days they have given him multiple platelet and plasma treatments, and they've given him two units of blood so far - all in an effort to get his blood pressure normalized, as it was very low in the first 24 hours of recovery. It does seem to be readily improving.
Doctors found fairly early on in Tracy's recovery that he was fighting an infection, so they started him immediately on a 7-day regimen of antibiotics. We were glad to hear that blood tests showed NO infection in his bloodstream.
During the past 2 & 1/2 days, Tracy has also had a fever, ranging from mild to moderately high, but that also is improving presently. He hasn't been walking yet, as he is still on a lot of pain meds & is week. His appetite has been getting better & he's been able to sit up in a chair some.
Tracy and Sharon are both very pleased with the staff at Vanderbilt & thankful to see so many young people there involved with the medical programs at Vanderbilt University who are so committed to doing what it takes to take care of patients in an excellent and gracious manner.
Thanks for continuing to pray for Tracy's recovery. It's looking at this point like Tracy's hospital/therapy rehab stay will continue for at least another 10-12 days.

Happy Anniversary! - August 21, 2014

Today is Tracy & Sharon Dartt's 50th Anniversary!

Tracy Update! 8/20 - August 20, 2014

Tracy's first day of recovery has been a day of doctors and nurses working to improve his post-recovery blood pressure. It's been quite low through the night & all day, so they have decided to treat him by giving him platelets. Also, it looks like he will be in the hospital for a longer time, probably 10-14 days total so that he can start in on physical therapy a few hours a day to aid recovery.

Tracy Surgery Update! 8/19 - August 19, 2014

Tracy's surgery went well with no surprises, & the surgeon was able to accomplish everything he had hoped to do. The surgery went a little long, & Tracy arrived in the recovery room around 6:30pm or so. He's on a lot of pain meds right now & should be getting a room assigned to him in the next hour or so. After a long day at the hospital, Sharon is glad to be at Tracy's side once again. Family members, including sons, Don & Frosty, spent time at the hospital today too to show support, pray, & to welcome Tracy back to consciousness. Please continue to pray for a full & swift recovery. Expected hospital stay is 3 or 4 days at least.

Tracy Dartt Surgery Today! - August 19, 2014

Tracy Dartt, author of "God On The Mountain", has been cleared for surgery today at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He's been prepped already & they'll be taking him into surgery at noon Central time. The surgeon is expecting a 6 hour procedure today to repair a fractured lower vertebra by using a rod and screws. They are also planning to trim a bulging disc. Recovery time of 3 to 4 months is expected. Please pray for a successful surgery and swift recovery. Check back here or on The Dartts' Facebook page or www.DarttMusic.com for updates…

Tracy Dartt Home From Hospital! - July 11, 2011

Tracy Dartt was released from the hospital Sunday morning & is resting at home. He'll be wearing a protective neck brace for the next several weeks, and we are waiting to hear from the doctors about when he will be starting physical therapy. Tracy says he is already seeing some positive effects of the surgery and we are hopeful and praying that we will see him continuing to improve in strength, stability, and muscle control.

Tracy Dartt Recovering Well! - July 7, 2011

Tracy is resting well tonight in his hospital room at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He looked good, was able to talk & visit, & is even allowed to get up out of bed if he wishes. He will be wearing a neck brace for a while & needs lots of rest.
Earlier in the day, Tracy's surgeon let us know That the surgery had gone well, that it was quite evident how urgently Tracy was in need of this procedure, & that he hoped this would result in Tracy's physical condition improving. Tracy will remain in the hospital for a few days before coming home to recover for a few weeks. Please continue to pray.

Thanks & God bless!

Tracy Dartt Undergoing Spine Surgery Today! - July 7, 2011

After more than two months of dealing with extreme physical weakness, Tracy Dartt, author of "God On The Mountain", will be undergoing spinal surgery to relieve a blockage of spinal fluid in his neck which has been caused by a progressive narrowing of the spinal column. Tracy's spinal condition has only recently been discovered by his doctors and they are confident that the surgery will prevent any further deterioration of his physical strength caused by this condition. They are hopeful that Tracy might even see improvement in his physical strength.

Tracy checked in to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville at 9:30am Central time, with the surgery scheduled to get underway shortly after 11am. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days, followed by a few weeks of recovery at home. We will be posting updates on The Dartts' Facebook page throughout the day Thursday and we'll send an e-mail at the end of the day to those who have joined our e-mail list here at GodOnTheMountainLegacy.com.
